Video Transcript:

Electrical Industry Mergers and Acquisitions

Do you recall the famous Who’s on First comedy routine? The merger and acquisition scene in the electrical industry may remind you of that skit.

But instead of who’s on first, the question is, “Who owns whom? Let’s take a quick look at what’s happened in the world of industrial motor control.

Schneider Electric, headquartered in France purchased Square D -- Telemecanique (TELL-A-MEK-A-NEEK) and EC&M which stands for the Electric Controller Manufacturing Company.

Eaton Corporation, headquartered in Ireland, purchased the Cutler-Hammer brand which had previously acquired the Challenger and Westinghouse control lines.  They also added Klockner-Moeller (CLOCK-NER MOLER).

Siemens, headquartered in Germany, acquired Furnas (FURNUS) who had previously acquired Allis-Chalmers.

US based Rockwell International acquired Allen-Bradley and S & S – the Sprecher & Schuh line. (SPRECKER AND SHOO).

US based Hubbell acquired Euclid controls.

Finally, ABB or Asea Brown Boveri (A-SAY-A BROWN BO-VAIRY) -- the Swiss company -- purchased Baldor -- who previously purchased Reliance and later agreed to purchase all GE industrial product divisions.
