Shipments of Motors Improved in Q4 of 2012
A recent article by EC&M reported NEMA’s Motors Shipments Index showed an increase of 6.5% over the previous quarter. This is a good indicator after a precipitous drop from Q2 to Q3 in motor shipments in 2012.
Motors Shipments trending upwards
Since the recession driven plummet of mid 2009, shipments have slowly, but steadily been increasing - with a few ups and downs along the way. As reported, the fractional horsepower segment grew in the first half of 2012 but fell sharply in Q3.
While manufacturing activity has been depressed, forecasts predict about a 1.4% year-over-year growth for 2013 and a much better outlook of 3% in 2014.
As operations continue to service units in the installed base, Repco is ready to help maintain these units by offering affordably priced replacement carbon brushes. As operations eventually improve - Repco will continue to provide OEM comparable replacement electrical contacts and coils for controls and carbon brushes for motors to the MRO marketplace.
